VERY SCARCE CLASSIC OF MOUNTAINEERING LITERATURE
CONDITION: Original dark red cloth, gilt lettering cover & spine, black decoration of ice axes lower corner front cover, TEG. Ex-library with marks erased, neatly repaired EP hinges, bookseller crimp on corner of blank FFEP, no EP pocket or tags, paper repair lower corner of front pastedown, gift inscription on short title page dated 1899, something crossed out on same page with black marker, no stamp or library mark on title page, something erased from verso of title page, "printed in Great Britain" stamped on very bottom edge of verso of title page, faint trace of sticker being removed from lower spine, no other library marks inside or outside, cloth at spine ends frayed with some loss, slight fading spine, wrinkle to cloth lower front cover corner, relatively clean covers, binding is solid and not loose, good working copy.
