This is the first printing of the first edition of TOWARDS THE UNKNOWN MOUNTAINS: "AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY FROM THE CANADIAN WILDERNESS FRONTIER" by Rob Wood. This book was published in Campbell River, British Columbia by Ptarmigan Press in 1991. The book measures about 30cm x 22cm, and has 124 pages, 30 color & 79 b/w photos, 5 maps, several sketches. The author, a Canadian with North Yorkshire UK childhood, details his climbs: Nose El Capitan, Baffin Island, winter ascent of Mt Waddington (with Doug Scott), Grand Central Couloir Mt Colonel Foster on Vancouver Island (with Doug Scott & Greg Child), other climbs & some sailing. Author did some of the earliest, if not the very first, frozen waterfall climbs in the Rocky Mountains of Canada.
CONDITION: Original grey boards, gilt lettering spine. The book is in fine condition, clean, no foxing, signed by the author, no other marks or writing on any pages. The dust jacket is fine with no chips and no tears, clean. Price: $75.
