This is the large format paperback edition of SAVAGE ARENA by Joe Tasker. This book was published in New York by St. Matin's Press in 1982. The book measures 236mm tall x 153mm, and has 270 pages, 52 b/w photos on 24 plates, 8 maps, 6 diagrams, index. The size and contents of the book are the same as the first UK and first USA hardcover editions. Climb of Eiger N face in winter, W face Changabang, N ridge Kanchenjunga, 2 attempts on K2, death of Nick Estcourt, etc. Published posthumously after author perished with Boardman on Everest. Excellent book on mountaineering on the big peaks. Great read, by far the better of Tasker’s two books.

CONDITION: Original photo-illustrated paperback. The covers have some rubbing along the edges, spine crease marks. No previous owner marks or writing on any pages, solid binding, no foxing. Price: $10.
