This is the first printing of the first UK edition of SAVAGE ARENA by Joe Tasker. This book was published in London by Methuen in 1982. The book measures 240mm tall x 155mm, and has 270 pages, 52 b/w photos on 24 plates, 8 maps, 6 diagrams, index. Climb of Eiger N face in winter, W face Changabang, N ridge Kanchenjunga, 2 attempts on K2, death of Nick Estcourt, etc. Published posthumously after author perished with Boardman on Everest. Excellent book on mountaineering on the big peaks. Great read, by far the better of Tasker’s two books.

CONDITION: Original navy boards with silver lettering spine. Nice dust jacket (slight rubbing tips corners, no chips, no tears, clean). The book is in near fine condition but has the usual tanning of the pages, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, clean. Price: $95.
