This is the first printing of the first UK edition of BEYOND THE FRONTIERS: THE BIOGRAPHY OF COLONEL F. M. BAILEY EXPLORER AND SPECIAL AGENT by Arthur Swinson. This book was published in London by Hutchison in 1971. The book measures 223mm tall x 140mm, and has 246 pages, 17 b/w photos, 4 maps, bibliography, index. Bailey’s adventurous life: marching on Lhasa with Younghusband, exploring the borderlands of India & Tibet, shuffling in the Great Game, British Minister at the Court of Nepal, Political Officer at Gangtok in Sikkim, etc. This book includes a chapter on Bailey's role in the early Everest expeditions. Quite interesting.

CONDITION: Original brown cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book is in near fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, clean, minor rubbing spine bottom (= some fading), no foxing, tight binding. The dust jacket is clean and bright, has rubbing at corner tips, some crinkle marks on the inside front flap edge. Price: $50.
