HISTORY AND DETAILS ABOUT VERY SUCCESSFUL AND VERY ACTIVE PROGRAM

This is the first printing of the first edition of THE HIGHEST CALLING -- CANADA'S ELITE NATIONAL PARK MOUNTAIN RESCUE PROGRAM by R. W. Sandford. This item was published in 2002 by The Alpine Club of Canada in Canmore. It measures 276mm tall x 212mm, and has 36 pages, and 30 b/w photos. It is the fourth in a series of staple-bound magazine style (but on thicker paper) special histories relating to Canadian mountaineering. This issue gives a detailed history of the development and implementation of the high angle mountain rescue service in the mountain Parks of Canada: Canadian Rockies, Selkirks, Purcells, etc. This is one of the most active mountain rescue operations in the world, with some of the most varied and challenging conditions found in the mountains. Not widely distributed, this was produced mainly for interested members of the Alpine Club of Canada. This issue is the scarcest.

CONDITION: Original thick paper covers (about the same as the covers for the recent club journals). Fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. Price: $25.
