This is the first printing of the first edition of SKIING LITERATURE -- A BIBLIOGRAPHICAL CATALOG by Gary H. Schwartz. This book was published in Mill Valley by Wood River Publishing in 1995. The book measures 235mm tall x 180mm, and has 255 pages, 10 b/w plates, several b/w photos of book covers. This was the first in-depth bibliography of skiing literature and remains the most complete for early ski books since it covers ski books written in most languages. It has 2,833 entries. Covers books (175 pages) & periodicals (13 pages) from the year 552 to 1994. Entries are ordered by author in the book section & by country/year in the periodicals section. It also has title index, chronological index, and a multiple subject index (includes mountaineering & exploration). Only 750 copies of this bibliography were made.

CONDITION: Original textured green hardcover with gilt lettering cover & spine. No dust jacket was produced for any copy of this book, ie, issued without dust jacket. The book is in new condition, purchased directly from the author and recently discovered at JP MOUNTAIN BOOKS tucked away on a shelf behind some other books. There is a small hole in the front fly-leaf due to a paper flaw (see photo) where there was an impurity in the paper. Price: $150.
