VOYAGES DANS LES ALPES

PRECEDES D'UN ESSAI SUR L'HISTOIRE NATURELLE DES ENVIRONS DE GENEVE

BY HORACE-BENEDICT DE SAUSSURE

1796 & 1803 ORIGINAL EDITIONS

COMPLETE 8 VOLUMES

UNIFORM SET

UNTRIMMED VOLUMES

This is the 8 volume edition of De Saussure's famous book. The volumes in this set were published in Neuchatel Switzerland by Louis Fauche-Borel for volume I and by "Louis Fauch" for the other 7 volumes, in 1796 for volumes 5, 6, 7, 8 and in 1803 for volumes 1, 2, 3, 4. Each volume measures 223mm tall x 143mm [covers, untrimmed pages measure 215mm or 216mm tall and about 140mm wide]. The set is complete with 22 engraved plates, 2 folding maps, 2 folding tables, 20 pages of in-text tables. The placement of the plates is usually erratic in this edition since it seems that there was no binder's instruction sheet issued. The first 4 volumes are second printings. The first printing of the first four volumes was Chez Barde, Manget & Compagnie in 1786 in Genève. The last 4 volumes are first printings of the 8 volume edition.
