This is the first printing of the first USA edition of BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH by Gaston Rébuffat. This book was published in New York by Oxford University Press in 1965. The book measures 235mm tall x 182mm, 183 pages, 104 b/w plates (1 double-page foldout), 7 color plates. The making of the famous film Entre Terre et Ciel with details of the climbing featured in it. Includes the first ascent of S Face Aiguille du Midi, Grand Traverse of Mt. Blanc, SW Pillar of The Dru, The Matterhorn, etc. Has a chapter describing these routes in detail. A lavish, interesting book.

CONDITION: Original blue cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book has minor rubbing lower spine corner, a bump to upper outside front cover corner, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, clean. The dust jacket has some loss at tip of spine corners, loss to upper front outside corner and some loss near outside front edge at the end of a 7cm tear, 4cm tear upper front, 2cm tear upper rear, price-clipped flap corner.
