This is the first printing of the first edition of GEORGE LEIGH MALLORY: A MEMOIR by David Pye. This book was published in London by Oxford University Press in 1927. The book measures 210mm tall x 145mm, and has 183 pages, 6 b/w photos. This is an intimate biography of Mallory by a friend & ropemate. It is the best conveyance of Mallory’s persona. Half of the book is on the Everest expeditions.

CONDITION: Original very dark blue (almost black) cloth with white title label on spine with black lettering. Some diffuse fading on covers, clean, solid binding, previous owner name dated 1927 on free front endpaper, no other owner marks or writing on any pages, a few pages with marginal foxing (not bad) but most pages completely free of foxing, spare spine label still present at end. Price: $125.
