BY ANNIE S. PECK
1911 FIRST USA EDITION
A CLASSIC BOOK ON MOUNTAINEERING IN THE ANDES
CONDITION: Original grey cloth, gilt & white decorated cover, gilt lettering and borders front cover, gilt lettering spine. Better than average condition of this book. Covers & spine bright with bright gilt, wrinkle to cloth of upper front cover made during production of the book (the underlying board is not creased at all), light wrinkle lower rear corner (this time from a bump since the paper on the inside of the board is cracked but the board itself is firm and not broken), previous owner private bookplate partially pulled from front pastedown, very clean and bright covers, no foxing, no rubbing, tight binding, other than the bookplates on the front pastedown there are no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, nice condition example of a book that is usually found with faded spine and rather soiled covers. Price: $600.
NOTE: We have available another copy of the first USA edition in original binding, but not in as nice condition: rubbing rear cover causing some loss of cover coloring (shows as off-white) mainly a 8cm x 2cm section near the middle of the rear cover, faint grubbiness spine, tips corners rubbed, gift inscription on blank FFEP. Price $400. Photos are available upon request.
