The indefatigable Peck’s account of steadfast persistence and final success. This details her first ascent in 1908 of the North Peak of Peru’s Nevado Huascarán (6655m) in the Cordillera Blanca, and her five preceding attempts at climbing it. It also describes her plucky attempt in 1904 at making the first ascent of Ancohuma (6427m) in the Cordillera Real of Bolivia. This is one of only a few classic books in english on climbing in South America.

CONDITION: Original grey cloth, gilt & white decorated cover, gilt lettering and borders front cover, gilt lettering spine. Better than average condition of this book. Price: $600.

NOTE: We have available another copy of the first USA edition in original binding, but not in as nice condition: rubbing rear cover causing some loss of cover coloring (shows as off-white) mainly a 8cm x 2cm section near the middle of the rear cover, faint grubbiness spine, tips corners rubbed, gift inscription on blank FFEP. Price $400. Photos are available upon request.
