EVEREST IS CLIMBED

1954 FIRST EDITION

PUFFIN PICTURE BOOK No 100

SIGNED BY GEORGE LOWE

ILLUSTRATED ACCOUNT OF THE 1953 FIRST ASCENT OF EVEREST

This is the first printing of the first edition of EVEREST IS CLIMBED by Wilfrid Noyce (text) and Richard Taylor (illustrations). This book was published in 1954 by Peguin Books in Harmondsworth. The book measures 183mm tall x 221mm, and has 30 pages + printed text inside each cover, 35 color illustrations. Interesting account of the first ascent of Mt Everest written for young readers. Noyce was one of the key members of the expedition. This is one of the best junior accounts of the expedition. It is written in the first person by Noyce, including his direct observations during the expedition, including some tiny anecdotes that might not appear in other accounts. Accordingly, it is devoid of the usual careless errors found in most childrens books on Everest.

CONDITION: Original stapled paperback with color covers. SIGNED by George Lowe on the first page of text. Overall nice condition with minor edge rubbing, clean covers, no foxing, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. Price: $125.
