This is the first printing of the first edition of BEYOND THE VERTICAL by Layton Kor with contributions by many of his climbing partners. This book was published in Boulder by Alpine House in 1983. The book measures 31cm tall x 23cm, and has 213 pages, 157 superb color photos, index. Kor’s climbing autobiography supplemented by 23 accounts by his climbing partners including essays by Steve Roper, Fred Beckey, Steve Komito, Chuck Pratt, Galen Rowell, Bob Culp, Royal Robbins, Jim McCarthy, Wayne Goss, Chris Bonington, Michael Covington, Pat Ament. Kor was an incredibly active climber in his day. This includes Kor’s integral part in the Eiger Direct route (John Harlin Memorial route), Dolomites, much on Colorado, Yosemite, desert climbs SW USA, Canada’s Logan Mountains, etc.

CONDITION: Original red cloth with gilt lettering spine. Original flawless dust jacket. The book is in fine condition. Previous owner name penned to top of the first blank page, no other marks or writing on any pages, clean, no foxing, tight binding. Price: $145.
