This is the 1983 paperback edition of THE WHITE SPIDER: THE STORY OF THE NORTH FACE OF THE EIGER by Heinrich Harrer and Kurt Maix. This book was published in London by Granada Publishing Limited in 1983. The is a larger former paperback (the same size as the hardcover edition) that measures 232mm tall x 152mm and has 315 pages, 8 b/w photos, route guide, chronology, index. The classic history of attempts to climb the Eigerwand and early ascents of this famous face including Harrer’s firsthand account of first ascent in 1938. The author was a member of the first ascent team that was comprised of Anderl Heckmair, Fritz Kasparek, Ludwig Vörg, and Harrer. Besides being a good history, this is a very entertaining read, one of the best on climbing in the Alps.

CONDITION: Original larger format paperback. Clean covers, minor rubbing to top spine corner, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, solid binding. Price: $10.
