This is the true first printing of Arthur Gran's A CLIMBER'S GUIDE TO THE SHAWANGUNKS. It was published in New York by the American Alpine Club with the Appalachian Mountain Club (New York Chapter) in 1964. It measures 167mm tall x 11cm and has 155 pages, 35 b/w plates, route index. This is the first and only printing of this rare guidebook. It is very uncommon. Based on known print sizes of similar American Alpine Club guidebook publications, probably 500 or fewer copies of Gran's Shawangunks guidebook were produced.

CONDITION: Original red cloth, gilt lettering cover & spine. Tight, clean binding with minor fading to spine ends, previous owner name penned to top of blank EP (blocked out in the photo below), no other writing or owner marks on any other pages. No foxing on pages but some foxing along the inside edge of the front and rear covers and at the hinges (see photo). Clean, bright pages. Overall a nicely preserved example of the scarce first edition. Price: SOLD.
