This is an original poster for the award-winning film LES ÉTOILES DE MIDI directed by Marcel Ichac & Jacques Ertaud, starring Lionel Terray, René Desmaison, & Michel Vaucher -- featuring René Collet, Maurice Claret & others. The poster dates from the time of the production of the movie in 1958, probably 1959 when the film became widely distributed after winning the grand prize of the french film industry for 1959 (le grand prix du cinéma français). It is a folded (one fold) sheet with the iconic image of Lionel Terray on the front, publicity information on the rear, and a synopsis of the film with illustrations on the interior foldout. The front panel with the image of Lionel Terray tossing a rope measures 311mm tall x 239mm (12.25 inches x 9.41 inches). The film is considered to be one of the best mountaineering movies ever produced. It includes some spectacular climbing scenes, culminating in an ascent of the East Face of the Grand Capucin.

CONDITION: Original printing from time of the initial release of the film. Some minor rubbing to edges and slight curling to the tip of the upper front outside corner. No soiling, no tears, no pinholes. Price: $75.
