THE FIRST COMPLETE CIRCUIT OF DENALI

UNCOMMON FIRST PRINTING

This is the first printing of the first edition of THE SHAMELESS DIARY OF AN EXPLORER by Robert Dunn. This book was published in New York by The Outing Publishing Company in 1907. The book measures 188mm tall x 13cm, and has 297 pages, 11 b/w photos, 2 folding maps. Classic account of an early attempt to make the first ascent of Mt. McKinley & of the first complete circuit around Mt. McKinley. This extensive expedition was led by Dr Frederick Cook in 1903. Dunn, second in command, writes rather scortchingly about Cook, referring to him throughout as “the Professor.” Actually, Cook comes through looking pretty good. Dunn’s complaints grow petty with number & soon appear to be mostly the result of a personality clash, in part due to Dunn’s superiority complex.
