This is the first printing of the first edition of MEN AND WAVES A TREASURY OF SURFING by Peter L. Dixon. This book was published in New York by Coward-McCann in 1966. The book measures 219mm tall x 147mm, and has 250 pages, 17 b/w photos. This is a selection of surfing accounts by various authors/surfers, mostly from the 1960s, but is also includes the Jack London description from THE CRUISE OF THE SNARK and a chapter from Tom Blake's classic, THE HAWAIIAN SURFBOARD.

CONDITION: Original blue cloth with silver lettering on spine. Nice condition with clean covers, tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. The original dust jacket is complete and clean but does have a 4cm clean tear lower rear and a 2cm scratch (not tear) upper rear, some old cellophane tape residue on the flap corners (but none on the end pages). Price: $75.
