1960 FIRST ASCENT OF DHUALAGIRI
EXPEDITION POSTCARD FROM THE MOUNTAIN
SIGNED BY TEAM
This is an official postcard from the 1960 first ascent of Dhaulagiri, the SCHWEIZERISCHE HIMALAYA-EXPEDITION 1960 led by Max Eiselin. The postcard has been signed by the expedition leader, Max Eiselin and first ascent summiters Peter Diener, Kurt Diemberger, Ernst Forrer, and Albin Schelbert. It is also signed by Michel Vaucher who summited a few days later on the same expedition, and is signed by Adam Skoczylas. There is an inked, unidentified fingerprint of a Sherpa also on the card, likely that of a summiter or the sirdar. The postcard has the expedition rubber stamp and four Nepalese stamps cancelled in Nepal. The card measures 106mm tall x 150mm (4.19 inches x 5.94 inches). The front side of the card is a b/w photo of Dhaulagiri.
CONDITION: Original card, stamp, and signatures (not copies). The signatures are strong and not fading. The card is in good condition but has a small bump at the tip of the corner where the stamps are placed. Price: $75.
