This is an official postcard from the 1985 first winter ascent of Cho Oyu, the EXPÉDITION HIVERNALE HIMALAYENNE 1984 led by Andrzej Zawada. The expedition was a joint Canadian and Polish venture. The Poles on the team were Andrzej Zawada, Maciej Berbeka, Eugeniusz Chrobak, Krzysztof Flaczynski (doctor), Miroslaw Gardzielewski, Zygmunt Andrzej Heinrich, Jerzy Kukuczka and Maciej Pawlikowski. The Canadian members were Martin Berkman, André Frapier, Jacques Olek (Deputy Leader) and Yves Tessier (doctor). The summiters were Berbeka and Pawlikowski on 12 February 1985 and Kukuczka and Heinrich on 15 February 1985. This card is hand-signed (not printed) by 11 of the 12 team members. Jerzy Kukuczka's signature is the second from the top at the left, under the pink one which is that of André Frapier. Below Kukuczka's autograph is that of Zygmunt Andrzej Heinrich. Zawada's authograph is to the right of Heinrich's. Directly above Zawada's is Berbeka's. Directly below Zawada's is Chrobak's. Below Chrobak's is Pawlikowski's in green. To the left of Pawlikowski's is probably Olek's. The remaining three autographs have not been deciphered (either Berkman, Tessier, Gardzielewski, or Flaczynski). Items signed by Jerzy Kukuczka are very scarce.

CONDITION: Original card, stamp, and signatures (not copies). The signatures are strong and not fading. The card is in good condition with only a little wear at the corner tips. Price: $750.
