This is the first printing of the first edition of LEGACY IN ICE: THE VAUX FAMILY AND THE CANADIAN ALPS by Edward Cavell. This book was published in Banff by The Whyte Foundation in 1983. The book measures 229mm tall x 304mm, not paginated [93 pages], 32 near full-page b/w photos & 39 smaller b/w photos, map, bibliography. Excellent, sharp b/w photos from 1887 through 1910 of the Rockies & Selkirks. Biographies of the Vaux family especially pertaining to their activities in the Canadian Rockies & Selkirks, followed by 38 pages of excerpts from the Scrapbook at Glacier House from 1897-1910, a notebook where various visitors described their excursions, climbs, impressions.

CONDITION: Original glossy white softcover with b/w photo on front cover. Clean, unworn, unmarked, Fine condition. Price: $20.
