This is the first printing of the first edition of HALF MILE DOWN by William Beebe. This book was published in 1934 by Harcourt, Brace and Company in New York. The book measures 24omm tall x 155mm, and has 344 pages, 123 b/w photos, 7 colored plates, index. Author’s pioneering deep deep sea exploration, setting a new record at 3028 feet below the surface using the bathysphere. Includes history of undersea exploration.

CONDITION: Original black cloth, debossed illustration of fish and bathysphere front cover, silver lettering spine, illustrated EPs. The book is in generally nice condition but has some foxing on pages opposite the plates and in the margins of some plates, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, clean. The uncommon original dust jacket has a small 5mm tear upper rear, some flecking at corner tips, minor diffuse soiling. Price: SOLD.
