This is the first printing of the first edition of CHALLENGE OF THE NORTH CASCADES by Fred Beckey. It is hand-signed by Beckey in black pen on the title page. This book was published in 1969 by The Mountaineers in Seattle. The book measures 228mm tall x 157mm, and has 280 pages, 47 b/w photos, 13 maps, chronology of climbs. Account of a few of Beckey’s many first ascents over his first 30 year's of climbing in the Cascades. This is one of the classic books of mountaineering in North America.

CONDITION: Original off-white cloth, gilt lettering spine. The book is in nice condition with previous owner name dated 1974 penned to upper corner of blank endpage, otherwise no owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Beckey's signature), no foxing, minor tanning to top edge of text block, tight binding, light tear very tip top one corner. The original dust jacket has a 3cm tear lower rear, small 1cm loss lower rear, 5mm tear lower front. Price: SOLD
