This is the 1972 deluxe reprint of Narrative of an ascent to the summit of Mont Blanc, on the 8th and 9th August, 1827 by John Auldjo. This book was published in Bologna by Libreria Alpina Degli Esposti in 1972. This high quality reproduction of the 1828 first edition was limited to 220 numbered copies. It is the same size as the 1828 original and has all of the pages, illustrations, and maps that are in the original. The book measures 305mm tall x 220mm and has ix + 120 + [1] pages, 1 large fold-out b/w panorama, 17 b/w illustration plates, 2 folding maps (one with color), 2 color height charts, facsimile of summit certificate. This edition was printed on high quality paper making the reproduction of the illustration plates sharp and fine.

CONDITION: Original red imitation leather with gilt lettering & decorations spine, blind borders both covers. This example is in fine, unread condition, purchased directly from the publisher, having been kept in climate controlled storage for 45 years. There are no owner marks or writing on any pages. The book is clean, has no foxing, and retains a solid binding. The publisher-issued plain wrapper (basically packing paper) has a crease across the front, some wear at spine ends and corners.
