This is the first printing of the first USA edition of THE EPIC OF MOUNT EVEREST by Sir Francis Younghusband. This book was published in 1926 by Longmans, Green & Co. in New York. The book measures 212mm tall x 140mm, and has 319 pages, 16 b/w plates, 2 maps, index. Good history of the early Everest attempts through the loss of Mallory & Irvine. Written by a key figure in the organization & planning of the early Everest expeditions.

CONDITION: Original tan cloth with brown lettering cover & spine. Generally nice condition with slight fading to spine, some light wear at spine ends with 5mm split to cloth at top of spine, tight binding, no foxing, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. The rare original dust jacket has a 1.5cm deep x 5cm chip lower front corner, 2cm tear top front, 5mm deep chipping along top spine, smaller chipping bottom spine, light brown water stain lower 1/2 spine along rear fold, 1.5cm deep x 3cm chip lower rear, jagged winding 15cm tear lower rear ending in 1cm2 chip.
