This book was published in New York by Henry Hold and Company in 1997. The book measures 242mm tall x 155mm, and has 253 pages, 30 b/w photos, 2 maps, biblio, index. Detailed study of the Dukeís expedition mixed with the authorís account of an attempt at new route up the S Face after sailboat & ski approach. Author & his partner had a terrible time with rotten weather & nearly starved to death. Waterman did very thorough research on the Dukeís expedition & on the life of the Duke making this a valuable source for those interested in mountaineering history. As the author notes, Mt St Eliasí indigenous name given by the Tlingit people is Yasetaca.
