This is the first UK printing of CHO OYU BY FAVOUR OF THE GODS by Herbert Tichy. This book was published in London by Methuen & Co LTD in 1957. The book measures 222mm tall x 140mm, and has 196 pages, 4 colour & 33 b/w photos, 2 maps, appendix. The account of the first ascent Cho Oyu (26700') by a small-scale expedition on a shoestring budget that overcame a failed first attempt & storm. This was one of the first expeditions to a big peak where Sherpas were true team members taking leading parts in the decision making regarding the climb.

CONDITION: Original tan cloth, red lettering spine. Original DJ (2cm clean tear upper front, rubbing spine edges, some tiny foxing spots front & rear), foxing on fore-edges, some foxing in margins only of a few pages (not many), clean and bright covers, previous owner inscription dated 1957 on FFEP, no other previous owner marks, overall nice condition.
