AMONG THE SELKIRK GLACIERS

By William Spotswood Green

QUALITY 1998 REPRINT

This is the 1998 quality reprint of the 1890 original AMONG THE SELKIRK GLACIERS. It was published in Calgary in 1998 by Aquila Books. The book measures 196mm tall x 131mm, being an exact reproduction of the original edition with [20pp] new intro, 251pp, fldg map, 10 b/w engravings + new portrait of Green. This reprint was painstakingly made to replicate very closely the original edition. The covers & cover stamping are nearly an identical match to the original. The binding is solid (sewn) and the pages are quality paper (not cheap thin stuff). Green made first ascent of Mt Bonney in 1888 and climbed on several other peaks (Sir Donald, Macdonald, Geikie). Exploration, surveying & height readings. One of the earliest of the classic books on climbing in Canada. This edition has a 20 page new introduction that details Canadian Rockies & Selkirks history, plus a biographical sketch of Green.

CONDITION: Original red cloth, double black border cover, gilt lettering & black rules spine. Flawless NEW condition. Price: $37.
