This is the first USA edition of NANDA DEVI THE TRAGIC EXPEDITION by JOHN ROSKELLEY. This book was published in Harrisburg by Stackpole Books in 1987. This is the first printing of the first USA edition. The book measures 236mm tall x 151mm, and has 239 pages, 71 b/w photos, 2 maps. Excellent account, Roskelley voices his opinions & criticisms of this expedition where Nanda Devi Unsoeld, the daughter of Willi Unsoeld, died high on peak. Reichardt, States & the author reached the summit via a difficult new route, the North Buttress.

CONDITION: Original blue boards, silver lettering spine. SIGNED BY ROSKELLEY ON THE TITLE PAGE. Fine DJ (no chips, no tears, no rubbing, clean, no fading), fine condition with with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (except for Roskelley's signature), tight binding, clean covers, no foxing Price: $55.
