This is the first printing of the first edition of GREEN COGNAC THE EDUCATION OF A MOUNTAIN FIGHTER by William Lowell Putnam. This book was published in New York by the AAC Press in 1991. The book measures 26cm tall x 18cm, and has 242 pages, 54 b/w photos, 9 maps, index. Account of training through demobilization of the US Army’s mountain & ski troops in WWII. These troops brought on the first large-scale enemy surrender of WWII. William Putnam was a multi-decorated member of these troops in WWII. He also had mountaineering experience prior to enlisting. After the war, Putnam did much exploratory mountaineering in Canada and authored many mountaineering books and guidebooks, mainly on climbing in Canada.

CONDITION: Original green cloth, green lettering spine, embossed dec cover. Both the book and the dust jacket are in fine condition, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, likely unread. Price: $10.
