This is the first printing of the first edition of TALES FROM THE CANADIAN ROCKIES edited by Brian Patton. This book was published in Edmonton by Hurtig in 1984. The book measures 235mm tall x 155mm, and has 303 pages, 31 b/w photos and illustrations. Selection of excerpts from the writings of 70 explorers, climbers, adventurers in the Canadian Rockies from 1793 to 1970ís. Includes excerpts from David Douglas, Robert Rundle, William Spotswood Green, Walter Wilcox, Stutfield, Conrad Kain, A.O. Wheeler, Edward Feuz, etc. Patton gives informative, brief biographies of all the writers at the end. Complete references to the original sources are included for those who wish to examine the full accounts. This a good sampler of writings that can be difficult to acquire.

CONDITION: Original textured navy boards, gilt lettering spine. Original dust jacket is in nice condition but has a tiny 5mm tear at the top of the spine. The book has two tiny 3mm splits at the top of the spine, otherwise is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, clean, tight binding, no foxing, no soiling.
