THE CLIMB UP TO HELL

BY JACK OLSEN

1962 FIRST USA EDITION

ONE OF THE MOST DRAMATIC EIGERWAND ACCOUNTS

This is the FRIST PRINTING of the first USA edition of THE CLIMB UP TO HELL by Jack Olsen. This book was published in New York by Harper & Row in 1962. The book measures 218mm tall x 141mm, and has 212 pages, 30 b/w photos. Rescue of Corti from the Eigerwand in 1957, the deaths of the others on the climb. Much conflict regarding the climb, mainly relating to Corti. This story reads like a good suspense novel evoking empathy, horror, frustration, and perhaps anger. Exciting, fast-paced true but unhappy (excepting the magnificent collective rescue effort) story.

CONDITION: Original black cloth with silver lettering spine. Original dust jacket has a 3cm tear lower rear, 5mm tear upper rear, two clean 1cm tears upper front, clipped flap corner. The book is in fine condition but has some fading along cover edges, tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing. Price: $45.

NOTE: We have reprints of the first edition available in original DJs (same format and contents as first printing -- nearly identical to the first printing except "First Edition" is not printed on the copyright page) for $20.
