This is the first printing of the first edition of BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROPE. THE BIOGRAPHY OF CHARLES HOUSTON by Bernadette McDonald. This book was published in Seattle by The Mountaineers Books in 2007. The book measures 228mm tall x 152mm, and has 250 pages + 4, 51 b/w photos, 3 diagrams, bibliography, index, DVD disk in pocket at rear. Houston climbed in Alaska on Mt Crillon and Mt Foraker, Mt Logan in the Yukon Canada as part of a medical research expedition, Nanda Devi first ascent expedition with Tilman and Odell, two times on K2 -- 1938 first expedition to get high on the mountain and 1953 with the dramatic fall and attempted rescue. Dr Houston also did much research with respect to human physiology and high altitude. The movies on the DVD are quite interesting and of considerable historical value. This is the paperback version of the first edition. There was a hardcover version published without a DJ but it is very uncommon because relatively few copies of the USA hardcover version were produced. The paperback and hardcover versions are the same size and have the same contents.

CONDITION: Original paperback binding. Signed by Bernadette McDonald on the title page. Pages 219 through 228 have a crinkle over the lenth of the pages, otherwise the book is in fine condition. Clean, no marks or writing, no foxing, tight binding. Price: $18.
