HOME OF THE BLIZZARD -- A TRUE STORY OF ANTARCTIC SURVIVAL

By Douglas Mawson

1998 REPRINT

NEW INTRODUCTION by Ranulph Fiennes

This is the 1998 reprint of HOME OF THE BLIZZARD by Douglas Mawson. It was published in New York by St. Martin's Press. The book measures 216mm tall x 137mm, and has 438 pages, 88 b/w photos, 10 sketches, 11 maps, 3 appendices, index. This is one of the classic books from the Heroic Age of exploration of Antarctica. Mawson was an incredible man with a devotion to science over fame. This was a very successful expedition, marred by an accident that led to the epic struggle for survival. Mawson was utterly alone, a physical wreck, yet he never quit even after reasonable expectation of survival was gone.

CONDITION: Original navy boards, silver lettering spine. Original dust jacket is in nice condition with a tiny 5mm clean tear upper front, some rubbing spine corners, flap corners not clipped. Minor crinkle top of spine; otherwise, the book is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, no foxing. Price: $15.
