This is the new 2009 printing of WHERE THE CLOUDS CAN GO. It was published in Vancouver by Rocky Mountain Books in 2009. This is the new 2009 printing of the book which originally appeared in 1935 in a very small run. Only 500 copies of the original book were printed. This edition has a new foreword by Pat Morrow. It also includes the forewords of the 1979 and the 1935 editions. This edition has a new selection of 56 b/w photos from various museums, nearly all of which do not appear in earlier editions. The book measures 228mm tall x 153mm and has 531 pages, 56 b/w photos, index, with additional chapters by J.M. Thorington. The book was published posthumously (Kain died in 1934). This is a classic of mountaineering in Canada (250 pages on climbing in Canada). Kain, born and raised in Lower Austria, was a guide & great climber. He made around 100 first ascents & new routes in the Alps (mostly Dolomites & Gesäuse), New Zealand, & Canada including Mt Robson, Bugaboo Spire, & Louis.
