NORTH WALL

BY ROGER HUBANK

1977 FIRST EDITION

STRUGGLE ON PIZ MOLINO IN THE ALPS

EVOCATIVE MOUNTAINEERING NOVEL

This is the first edition of NORTH WALL by Roger Hubank. This book was published in New York by The Viking Press in 1977. The book measures 23cm tall x 14cm, and has 197 pages including a glossary of mountaineering terms. FICTION. I dislike nearly all mountaineering fiction for recreational reading, but this one is not bad if you can get past the first two chapters. Hubank is a good writer; several of the scenes and related emotions connect with the reader. The story is even interesting at times, but the excellent writing in several of the passages is what makes this worth reading. Adventure novel of a big climb in the Alps. Two climbers on the same rope: one wants to die, the other does not want to die.

CONDITION: Original grey boards, black cloth spine with white and blue lettering. The book is in fine condition, clean, no foxing, tight binding. The dust jacket has small loss along the upper front edge (see photo). Price: $10.
