This is the first edition & first printing of K2 8611m by Charles Houston, Robert Bates & George Bell. It was published in Paris by Arthaud in 1954. This book was never published in english. It has 11 pages of text in french. The rest are full page photos with captions in english & in french, followed by 8 pages of comments in french regarding the photos. The book measures 251mm tall x 196mm, and has 100 pages, 7 color & 63 b/w photos, route diagram, loose folded map. This is the photo album of the famous 1953 attempt. It was published 3 months before the first USA edition of K2 The Savage Mountain was published. This was never published in english as the US publisher of K2 The Savage Mountain felt it wouldn’t sell well.

CONDITION: Original white stiff soft cover with black lettering front & spine in original color pictorial dust jacket. Book is in NEAR FINE condition with a couple of crinkles to spine paper, 100% complete & includes the loose folded map that is often missing, SIGNED on the title page in blue & black pen by Charles Houston, Robert Bates, Robert Craig, Pete Schoening, & Dee Molenaar. No previous owner marks or writing on any pages. Solid binding. Clean. The original dust wrapper is in very good condition wiht no chips, minor rubbing ends of spine, 5mm tear upper rear, 2cm tear lower front spine crease, minor rubbing at folds. Price: $600.
