This is the first printing of the first edition of THE EQUATORIAL GLACIERS OF NEW GUINEA: RESULTS OF THE 1971-1973 AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIES' EXPEDITIONS TO IRIAN JAYA-SURVEY, GLACIOLOGY, METEOROLOGY, BIOLOGY AND PALAEOENVIRONMENTS by Geoffrey Hope and several others. This book was published in Rotterdam by Balkema in 1976. The book measures 233mm tall x 151mm, and has 244 pages, 45 photos, 29 figures & maps, 3 folding maps in back pocket: Carstensz Pyramid area, a detailed topo (1:20000) showing all routes and cairns of the 1936 and 1962 expedition; a 1:250000 map showing all roads, tracks, minor trails, drainages, settlements and shelters; a map of the last neoglacial advance. Account of 2 Australian expeditions to Mt Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid area). Includes chapter on exploration & climbing expeditions to the area. Many references. Thorough study of the area. Rare outside of institutional research libraries.

CONDITION: Original blue cloth, gilt publisher's emblem front cover, gilt lettering spine. The book is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing, tight binding, clean. Price: $200.
