This is the first printing of the first edition of SIR JOHN FRANKLIN'S JOURNALS AND CORRESPONDENCE: THE FIRST ARCTIC LAND EXPEDITION 1819-1822 edited by Richard C. Davis who wrote a 100 page historical introduction for this book. This book was published in 1995 by The Champlain Society and The Royal Canadian Geographical Society in Toronto and Ottawa, respectively. The book measures 241mm tall x 167mm, and has cix + 463 + xxiii pages, 6 b/w illustrations, 3 b/w maps with routes marked in red, index. "Nearly complete transcriptions of the extant journals kept by John Franklin during his expedition to the unknown northern coast of the North American continent in the years 1819 to 1822."
CONDITION: Original navy cloth, silver lettering spine. All copies issued without dust jacket. Flawless new condition, signed by the editor on the title page. Price: $50.
