This is the first edition of K2. CONQUISTA ITALIANA. TRA STORIA E MEMORIA. The book was published in Azzano San Paolo by Bolis Edizioni in 2004. This book is large format measuring 305mm tall x 245mm. It is not paginated. I counted 180 pages, 142 color & 73 b/w photos & illustrations. The text is in italian. There is no english edition. Account of the first ascent of K2 by one of the summiters, Achille Compagnoni. This book contains many good photos from the expedition not published in Desioís account. Igor Man presents an eight page interview of Compagnoni. Mariarosa Carreri writes a 7 page biography of Compagnoni. This also contains the full text of Compagnoniís scarce, early book on the ascent, Uomini sul K2, and a considerable amount of other writings by Compagnoni about the expedition not found in that book. Though the book is not old, it has become very uncommon.
