This is the first printing of the first edition of Norman Clyde Of The Sierra Nevada -- Rambles Through The Range Of Light -- 29 Essays On The Mountains. It was published in San Francisco by The Scrimshaw Press in 1971. The book measures 231mm tall x 155mm, and has 172 pages, 20 b/w photos, 1 map. A classic of the Sierra Nevada literature, the major account of the author’s many first ascents & pioneering climbs in the Sierra Nevada. Foreword by Francis Farquhar, prologue by Jules Eichorn, “with long letter by Smoke Blanchard” [printed as part of the book, not a manuscript letter]. A small run book that is somewhat hard to find.

CONDITION: Original light brown soft cover with brown lettering covers & spine with black border front. Nice condition. Covers clean, minor semi-crease mark upper rear corner of cover (detectible, but no clearly defined crease line -- see photo), tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no crease marks on pages, no foxing, very collectible condition Price: $100.
