This is the first printing of the first edition of Norman Clyde Of The Sierra Nevada -- Rambles Through The Range Of Light -- 29 Essays On The Mountains. It was published in San Francisco by The Scrimshaw Press in 1971. The book measures 231mm tall x 155mm, and has 172 pages, 20 b/w photos, 1 map. A classic of the Sierra Nevada literature, the major account of the author’s many first ascents & pioneering climbs in the Sierra Nevada. Foreword by Francis Farquhar, prologue by Jules Eichorn, “with long letter by Smoke Blanchard” [printed as part of the book, not a manuscript letter]. A small run book that is somewhat hard to find.

CONDITION: Original light brown soft cover with brown lettering covers & spine with black border front. Covers clean, tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, slight curl on last few pages and faint crease upper rear cover from when I packed this book in a box and the load shifted -- eave of cover from another book pushed into it (not bad) -- otherwise Fine and probably never read Price: $110.
