This is the 1962 First Printing of CLOSE UPS OF THE HIGH SIERRA. It was published in Glendale in 1962 by La Siesta Press. It measures 216mm tall x 140mm, and has 80 pages, 11 b/w photos, 5 maps, index, list of Clyde’s first ascents in the Sierra Nevada. One of the scarcest Sierra Nevada climbing books, only 600 copies of the first edition were made (400 in paperback, 200 in hardcover numbered & signed). This is one of the 400 paperback copies. Describes several of Clyde's pioneering first ascents (e.g., East Face of Whitney in sneakers) & describes the peaks above 12000'. Clyde made 127 first ascents of mountains and many new routes in the High Sierra between 1914 & 1940.

CONDITION: Original illustrated blue paperback binding. Generally nice condition but there is some soiling on the front cover (see photo), no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, binding (sewn) is solid with no loose pages, slight tanning of pages due to age. Very scarce book in the first edition. Price: SOLD.
