This is the sixth printing of the UK one volume edition of THE WORST JOURNEY IN THE WORLD -- ANTARCTIC 1910-1913 by Apsley Cherry-Garrard. This book was published in London by Chatto & Windus in 1952. This printing contains the 27-page Postscript written by Cherry-Garrard in 1948 (and first published in the 5th printing of 1951). This postscript was withdrawn from many of the later reprints. The book measures 228mm tall x 147mm, and has 612 pages + author's 48 page introduction & 2 prefaces (1923 & 1937), 8 plates of b/w sketches by Wilson & colour frontispiece of a Wilson water colour, 4 maps (2 fldg), glossary, index. Account of Scott’s last Antarctic Expedition by survivor Cherry-Garrard who was part of the recovery team that found the bodies of Scott, Wilson and Bowers. This work is often described as one of the most literary of the classic polar accounts. Cherry-Garrard read Classics & Modern History at Oxford. Also, much of the book was edited by his neighbour, George B. Shaw.

CONDITION: Original blue cloth with gilt lettering cover & spine. uncommon nice dust jacket (4mm shallow chip lower rear, 5mm chip upper spine corner, better than average condition for this DJ that was printed on thin, brittle paper). The book is in fine condition with previous owner bookplate on front pastedown, no other previous owner marks or writing on any pages, clean, tight binding, no foxing. Price: $175.
