This is the first UK edition of Nanga Parbat Pilgrimage by Hermann Buhl. It was published in London by Hodder and Stoughton in 1956. The book measures 229mm tall x 148mm, and has 360 pages, 19 b/w photos, 3 maps, index. Buhlís autobiography including his solo (upper part of the mountain) first ascent of Nanga Parbat. Buhl was a most interesting character in mountaineering, inspiring many of todayís extreme 8000m climbers.

CONDITION: Original blue boards, silver lettering spine. BOOK CONDITION is good with clean covers, tight binding, some browning (from exposure to light) on the covers at the spine ends and along the edges, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, some browning (a brown rectangle due to the binding glue reacting with the paper -- common for this book) on the endpapers (see photo), tight binding, no foxing. The original DUST JACKET is worn at the spine ends and at the corners, also some rubbing along the spine folds, a bit of loss at the top of the spine, 1cm tear upper front with crease lines, general light grubbiness on the rear panel.
