This is the 1977 third printing of MAWSON'S WILL -- THE GREATEST SURVIVAL STORY EVER WRITTEN by Lennard Bickel. It was published in New York by Stein and Day. The book measures 236mm tall x 155mm, and has 237 pages, 24 b/w photos, EP maps. Where Mawson was often succint and understated in his account of the remarkable struggle, Bickel has enthusiastically retold the story in this page-turning dramatic history and analysis of Mawson’s struggle for 320 miles back across snow, ice, glaciers to Commonwealth Bay in 1912 during the Australian Antarctic Expedition. His two companions (X. Mertz, Swiss ski champion, & B. Ninnis) died. Mawson pushed on alone.

CONDITION: Original black cloth spine, light blue paper covered boards, gilt lettering cover & spine. Original dust jacket is in good condition with a clean 1cm tear lower front, some rubbing rear cover & corners, flap corners not clipped. Tips of lower cover corners bumped, clean covers, bright gilt, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, tight binding, no foxing. Price: $20.
